The By the Bay Romantic Comedy Series is Coming to Audiobooks

I’m excited to announce that the By the Bay romantic comedies will be coming to audiobook format in 2020.

Yes, you read that correctly!

Readers have been asking me for a while now if the stories will be available on audio. I wanted to start releasing them on that format over a year ago, but I had no idea how to go about doing that.

Plus, at the time, I wasn’t listening to audiobooks, so that didn’t help either.

That has since changed. Now, I have a better idea of what sounds good—and what turns me off when it comes to them.

The other issue I had is that my books are dual point of view, but one company I knew that does audiobooks can only handle single voice narration.

That might work great for some romances and for other genres, but I don’t think it works well for sexy romances told in first person.

So, this left me scratching my head, wondering what to do.

And then I got my answer.

A lot of the romance authors I talked to use production companies that not only produce dual POV audiobooks, they do a lot of the grunt work for the author. This frees up my time to write and do the multiple other author-related tasks that I need to do (like writing this blog post!).

They also organize the auditions, which makes things so much easier compared to going through huge lists of narrators on ACX (the production company associated with Amazon).

After talking to some romantic comedy authors, I decided to contact the production company that author duo Piper Rayne uses.

So what’s next?

Last week, I sent the manuscript for Decidedly Off Limits to the owner of the company, along with descriptions for Trent and Kelsey. These descriptions will give the narrators a better idea of what Trent and Kelsey sound like.

Now I’m just waiting for the auditions so that I can pick the right individuals for these two much beloved characters.
